Advanced Hypnosis for Childbirth        (Hypnobirthing) Courses

For the complete standard training we would recommend a series of 4 x 1.5 hours one-to-one individualised sessions tailored to your needs attended anytime from 20 weeks in your pregnancy.

Each birth is unique, and easibirthing® is about empowering you to manage your individual experience, not fear it.

We train you to use self-hypnosis, relaxation, visualisation and breathing methods to prepare mind and body for birth.

The easibirthing® method teaches you how to use hypnosis for pain management and aims to boost your trust in your body so you enter labour feeling calm, confident and in control.

This is about reaching a state of deep relaxation, maintaining perception of control over the process and developing a positive attitude.

It is about changing your expectation of birth so that you help rather than hinder the natural process, and develop valuable life skills for parenthood.

Other Pregnancy and Chilbirth issues

Feeling anxious or low during pregnancy can be confusing and debilitating. Therapy can help you explore your thoughts and feelings and help you to enjoy the journey towards becoming a parent.

During early pregnancy, nausea, vomiting and tiredness are common symptoms. Around half of all pregnant women experience nausea and vomiting, and around 3 in 10 women experience nausea without vomiting.Nausea and vomiting usually start to get better after the first three months of pregnancy, and you’ll feel some of your energy returning. However, some women experience NVP for longer than this, and about 1 woman in 10 continues to feel sick after week 20. People sometimes consider morning sickness a minor inconvenience of pregnancy, but for some women it can have a significant, adverse effect on their day-to-day activities and quality of life.

Additional issues we can help with in one-to-one appointments using hypnosis and/or psychotherapy:

•   Turning breech or posterior babies

•   Preparation for planned Caeserean Section

•   Tokophobia or extreme fear of birth

•   Morning Sickness or Hyperemesis

•   Needle or hospital phobia

•   Antenatal depression and anxiety

•   Stress Management in ante-natal period

•   Mental preparation for parenthood

•   PTSD from previous birth experience

•   Postpartum / Post natal depression and anxiety

•   Insomnia, headache or breast discomfort

Fertility

The mind has enormous power over the body, which is constantly influenced by our emotions, thoughts and beliefs.  There are many factors responsible for infertility, and our emotions can affect the delicately balanced hormonal system, which in turn controls ovulation, sperm production and pregnancy.  The focus of my work tends to not just about hopefully getting pregnant, but also about helping my male AND female client to re-establish control over their lives. It may be dealing with the emotional toll of the experience of infertility.

Positive Mental Health in the Post Natal period

Parenthood is surrounded by myths. There are myths about what it takes to be a good mother or father, about how to ensure your child thrives, about what material things you need, and about how a good mother should think, feel and act so that her child is successful and happy.

So in the vulnerable period of the weeks and months after your baby is born into the world, it can feel like whatever you do is wrong or ‘not good enough’. The ‘I should be’ or ‘I shouldn’t be’ tendency can feel overpowering at times.

We talk about the birth of a mother, and the birth of a father. Whilst being a parent is the real you, it is a part of you that never existed before. It is a new role requiring new skills and a completely new set of rules.

It is important that you have the right support available to enable a smooth transition to parenting so that you can enjoy the experience with your partner, any older children and your new baby. If you would prefer to bring your baby along to the appointment, then you are welcome to do so.

Becoming a parent can be fulfilling and enjoyable. However for some women and men it can continue to feel very daunting and overwhelming after the initial few days/weeks. Perhaps childbirth or holding their baby for the first time was not the wonderful experience they were hoping for. The reality is that, throughout the world, postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety (PPA) disorders affect fifteen to twenty percent of new mothers; and 1 in 4 men can also show symptoms.  PPD and PPA can impact on individuals at one of the most pivotal times of life, it is vital that you receive appropriate support. We empower our clients to recognise and overcome them, and to regain a sense of control in their lives.
